‘Fill Me Up’ Paleo Avocado Smoothie

paleo avocado smoothie, avocado shakeI’m no stranger to a smoothie recipe. They are quick and convenient for breakfast or a filling snack, and they remind me of eating ice cream. Yum.

This one is particularly reministant of ice cream thanks to the avocado. Its super creamy, and give it a few extra minutes in the freezer after blending and you can enjoy it with a spoon as opposed to a straw. I sometimes keep a batch of this in the freezer for an after-dinner treat.

Avocado aside, the raw almonds amp up the “filling” factor even further, in addition to giving this a nice balance of healthy fats and protein in combination of the sweetness of the fruits.

You can top this with some bananas, Chia seeds or chopped raw almonds for a little texture.

Dairy Free Smoothie Recipe: Raspberry and Chocolate Hazelnut

And if you can feed that craving without processed sugars or artificial ingredients, you are doing something right.

Ever since I made my diet “clean” I always turn to the natural sugars in fruits, raw honey and maple syrup to sweeten treats, and this recipe is no different. It incorporates chocolate hazelnut butter and an added almond butter “sauce” topper, so it is just the right amount of sweet and is super filling.

As with all my smoothie recipes, using frozen fruits is a must. When you add ice you are essentially adding water; and who wants a watery shake or smoothie? Ick.

I usually make small portions of this, serving in a small glass; this recipes makes about 3 small portions.

So Yum! Dairy-Free Raspberry Banana Shake Recipe

dairy-free shake, raspberry banana shake, healthy dairy-free shakeSmoothies and shakes are an easy and healthy breakfast or snack option for me.  I love the convenience of simply throwing a few fruits in a blender and pressing a button; easy clean up too.

I have a slew of different smoothie and shake recipes, but one common player in every individual recipe is using all frozen fruits — you can either buy them that way or buy them fresh and freeze them yourself. I often make fruit salads in the summer so I usually just freeze whatever I have left over. Using all frozen fruit and no ice makes these smoothies perfectly thick; I hate a watery smoothie or shake. Yuck.

The Craving-Killing Healthy Chocolate Shake Recipe

The consistently and sweetness of this makes it scarily similar to a legit chocolate shake, but its minimal, non-processed, dairy-free makeup makes it clean and healthy on top of its craving-pleasing qualities. It’s my go-to when I’m having one of those “just give me something sweet” moments — and it should be yours, too.

In addition to being a yummy snack or dessert, this shake also suffices as a filling — and fulfilling — breakfast. Eat up.
