Dark Chocolate Chip Paleo Banana Bread Recipe

Paleo Banana Bread RecipeBanana bread takes me back to my childhood. I love it. It reminds me of my grandmother. And it’s also one of those desserts that for whatever reason it’s totally acceptable to eat it for breakfast. Love that.

This Paleo banana bread recipe is a lot cleaner than the Entenmann’s boxed banana bread that my grandma always had on hand, but it is still delicious. The dark chocolate is optional if that isn’t your thing, but I love, love, love the combination or dark chocolate and banana. Yum.

Eat this with a cup of coffee in the AM or with a scoop of dairy-free ice cream in the PM. It knows no time-appropriateness, which only makes it more appealing. Eat up.

Healthy Paleo Desserts: Chocolate, Pistachio-Covered Tangerines

Tangerine Pistachio, Healthy DessertsTis’ the season to eat a ton of crap.

Sadly, it’s true.

But try to resist the urge, as it’s not always worth it. One piece of cheesecake has me feeling like shit for a full 24 hours, so I always try to steer clear of dairy-heavy and processed desserts, no matter how tempting the options are.

This super easy little dessert/appetizer can help to satisfy that holiday sweet tooth. It’s super yummy and sweet but without all the processed crap that is in so many other holiday treats.

Three ingredients. And you can easily switch out the fruit and nut combo to your liking. I also sometimes throw in a little diced dried fruit with my nuts for some added flavor; play around with it. Fun. Easy. Healthy.

Happy Holidays!

Healthy Paleo Pumpkin Spice Latte Recipe

healthy pumpkin spice latte, paleo pumpkin spice latteTis’ the season for putting pumpkin spice flavor on every. dish. imaginable. And I love it. Well, within reason. I’ve seen pumpkin spice-flavored popcorn. I just can’t get behind that one. But coffee, more specifically, lattes, I’m in love.

Nothing reminds me more of fall — which would be my favorite season if it only lasted longer — than a hot, creamy pumpkin spice latte, and a flannel; I love a good flannel, too. The only problem? If you get a pumpkin spice latte from a coffee shop there is really no pumpkin in it — or anything else that isn’t processed sugary crap.

So, I make my own and enjoy it on the reg for breakfast or dessert. And I don’t miss the Starbucks version. Truth.

5-Ingredient Dairy-free Chocolate Banana Ice Cream Recipe

dairy-free ice cream, paleo ice cream, Ice cream. Yum.

I have a little bit of a sweet-tooth, and as a result of that, I’m always on the lookout for a non-dairy ice cream copycat. And, yes, you could do a coconut milk or almond milk version — I know you’ve seen them in your supermarket — but they are still loaded with refined sugars. Not feeling that.

This dairy-free chocolate banana ice cream recipe is actually healthy. Minimal ingredients, only natural sugars, no crap. It’s not as sweet, of course, but it’s still delicious and it is 100 percent clean eating.

You can make this your own by throwing in whatever toppings you’re craving. I sometimes add dark chocolate chips for a little added crunch and sweetness. Dried cherries and chopped nuts are also delicious.

Yum. Pass me a spoon.

Three-Ingredient Mango Chia Seed Pudding Recipe

chia seed pudding recipe, chia seed dessertNow that the threat of snow is winding down (fingers crossed), I’ve been getting the itch to move away from making heavier soups and chilis and towards lighter salads and fruity desserts.

Mangos always remind me of the warmer months, and they are my go-to when I’m craving something sweet; I have dried mangos in my pantry at all times. This Chia seed pudding is made almost entirely of mangos. Its super sweet and citrusy without any added crap.

I normally add a little bit of raw honey or pure maple syrup to my Chia seed pudding recipes, and there is always a base of almond milk, but I find the mangos are sweet enough on their own — nix the honey or maple — and when pureed they are thick enough that the almond milk is also not needed. Just mangos, Chia seeds and fresh orange juice — plus whatever you choose to top it with, if anything. It literally doesn’t get any easier than that.

Date and Nut Butter Chocolate Paleo Dessert ‘Truffles’

Paleo Chocolate Dessert, Healthy Chocolate DessertMy sweet tooth can be pretty bitchy. She’ll hang around until she gets what she wants.

Unfortunately for her, I know processed sugar is the devil and any super-sugary indulgence I give into is never worth the headachy “I feel like shit” aftermath, so I try to stay away. And recipes like this one make that way easier to do. These are sweet, chewy, rich and super filling; they are my go-to when my sweet tooth rears its ugly head, and they have never not satisfied it.

I make these for my family — filled with some not-so-clean, non-Paleo eaters — every holiday, and no one is the wiser of what is — or isn’t — in them; they all get gobbled up every time. Every. Damn. Time.

And they are so quick and easy to boot. Eat up.
